Aarhus (Denmark), is piloting a new mobility hub concept aimed at promoting active mobility and reducing car-oriented commuting: the Mobility Meeting Point. The locations chosen for transformation are Eskelunden, Tangkrogen and Harlev, catering to diverse user populations from both rural and urban settings.
Objectives
- Create the framework for and test the impact of mobility meeting points
- Operate the hub sites as a living lab, testing ideas to encourage a shift from cars to active travel modes.
- Stimulate citizens of Aarhus and nearby towns to switch from car to active mobility
Physical Intervention
The infrastructural pilot will focus on the conceptualisation, implementation and testing of mobility meeting points, and their impact in fomenting the use of active travel modes among the surrounding and passing population.
Soft Intervention
Interventions will involve collaboration with local community groups, businesses, and the City of Aarhus to create safe and attractive urban environments. Gathering data on mobility patterns using Internet Of Things devices and user experiences will be a crucial part of the project.
